Modifikasi Olahraga Adaptasi untuk Permainan Gobak Sodor Guna Meningkatkan Koordinasi dan Interaksi Sosial Siswa Tunarungu SLB N Ungaran
Abstract
Background: Adaptive physical education plays an important role in developing motor coordination and social interaction among students with special needs, particularly students with hearing impairments. This community service project aimed to examine the implementation and effectiveness of adaptive modifications to the Gobak Sodor game in improving motor coordination and social interaction among students with hearing impairments at SLB N Ungaran.
Methods: The project employed a descriptive-participatory qualitative approach, with data collected through participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and activity documentation.
Results: The results showed that the implementation of game modifications, including the use of a smaller playing field, thick colored lines, shorter playing durations, a turn-based system, and visual-based communication, contributed to improvements in students’ motor coordination, particularly in movement control, spatial orientation, and teamwork. In addition, the students demonstrated improved social interaction through active participation, emotional management, and nonverbal communication during the activities. These findings indicate that adaptive modifications to the Gobak Sodor game can support not only the development of motor skills but also the enhancement of social skills and self-confidence among students with hearing impairments.
Conclusion: Thus, adaptive Gobak Sodor activities can serve as an engaging and inclusive approach to supporting physical and social development in special education settings.
